Abstract

Objective To observe the curative efficacy of montelukast on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with acute exacerbation stage. Methods Ninety patients with acute exacerbation stage of COPD were randomly divided into control group and therapeutic group. Each group included 45 cases. Control group received conventional treatment, whereas therapeutic group was given conventional treatment plus montelukast. After 2 weeks of treatment, blood gas analysis and pulmonary function before and after treatment were compared between control group and therapeutic group. Results PaO2, FEV1/FVC and FEV1/predictive value were significantly higher in therapeutic group after treatment than those in control group (P0.05).However, PaCO2 was decreased in therapeutic group after treatment as compared with control group (P0.05).Conclusion Montelukast has a better clinical effectiveness to treat COPD with acute exacerbation stage, and it can markedly alleviate respiratory function of patients.
