Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of Simo Decoction(SD) on gastric residual volume, intestinal propulsion rate and the colonic substance P(SP)expression in gastrointestinal motility dysfunction rats. Methods:Sixty mice were randomly divided into six groups:normal group, model group,high-,medium-,and low-dose SD groups, and mosapride group.Tail-clamping method combined with irregular feeding method was used to establish the models, and then the model rats were administered with corresponding drugs.Gastric residual volume and intestinal propulsion rate of semisolid paste were detected. The colonic area with positive expression of SP was observed with immunohistochemical assay. Results:Compared with the normal group, the gastric residual volume was significantly increased and the intestinal propulsion rate was decreased in the model group(P 0.05),while the above changes were counteracted by high-dose SD(P 0.05 compared with the model group).SP expression level in the model group was significantly lower than that in the normal group(P 0.05).Compared with the model group,SP expression level was increased in high-dose SD group and mosapride group(P 0.05).Conclusion:Tail-clamping method combined with irregular feeding method can cause gastrointestinal dysfunction in rats.Promoting the restoration of gastrointestinal function of gastrointestinal dysfunction rats, and increasing of expression level of SP,an excitatory neurotransmitter, may be one of the mechanisms SD.
