Analysis of the Death Causes of Inhabitants in Jiangmen City

Objective To study the death causes of inhabitant in Jiangmen city so as to provide the scientific evidence on which the public health planning for the city is based. Methods To ananlyses he database of the death information of inhabitant from May 2006 to April 2007 which was constructed in the format of 《medical death certificate》, the situation of the death people and the causes of death. Results The mortality rate is 539.7/100000, the top five death causes in order of frequency were cardiovascular disease, malignant tumor, cerebrovascular disease, chronic lower respiratory illness, trauma and intoxication. Conclusion The death caused by chronic non-infectious disease was 74% in the total death which was the most important cause of death in the city. In the public health planning, chronic non-infectious diseases should be the focus point for prevention and treatment.
