Abstract

Objective]To observe the effect of erjin decoction on the quantity of mast cells(MC) of gastric antrum and the content of serum nitric oxide(NO) in rats with functional dyspepsia and investigate the related mechanism. [Methods] Functional dyspepsia models of rats were made by irregular food intake plus diluted hydrochloric acid. The rats were randomly divided into five groups: high and low dosage of erjin decoction group, domperidone tablet group, saline group and model group. Succes\|sional treatment was offered for 28 days. The content of serum NO was measured with nitrate reductase method. MC were stained by Allen and calculated by optical microscope. [Results] Compared with those in the normal control group ,the content of NO and quantity of MC in the model group increased ( P 0.05). Compared with those in the model control group, the content of NO and quantity of MC in the high dosage erjin decoction group decreased ( P 0.05), which was similar to those in the normal control group. [ Conclusion] Erjin decoction can decrease the content of serum NO and the quantity of MC in gastric antrum, which might be one of its mechanisms of treating functional dyspepsia.
