Expression of p73,PTEN in gastric carcinoma

Objective To explore the expression of tumor-related genes p73 and tumor suppressor gene PTEN(phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome Ten)in gastric cancer tissues and their clinical pathological significances.Methods The expression of p73,PTEN from 40 patients with gastric carcinoma were determined by RT-PCR(reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction).Results ①There were significant differences in expression of p73 and PTEN between normal control and PTNM(pathological tumor-node-metastasis)stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ(P0.01),as well as between the stagesⅠ,Ⅱ with and stages Ⅲ,Ⅳ(P0.05).②In the high or middle differentiated grade of the cancer detected,the expression of p73 bore inconspicuous discrepancy to the low grade'(P0.05),but in the same condition PTEN got the opposite results(P0.05).③ There existed significant differences in the expression rates of p73 and PTEN between the patients with lymph metastasis and those without lymph metastasis(P0.05).Conclusions The expressions of p73 and PTEN have close relationship with the pathological characteristics of gastric cancer and their biological behaviors.Both p73 and PTEN play important roles in the distinct hyperplasia of stomach cancer.
