Abstract
AIM To explore the relation between obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) and cardiovascular diseases.METHODS Two hundred and sixty-five snorers and 20 normal volunteers were monitored from October 2004 to March 2006.The subjects were divided into 5 groups: normal control, simple snoring group, light snoring group, moderate snoring group and severe OSAHS group and the changes of blood pressure or electrocardiogram in the OSAHS patients with hypertension or coronary heart disease were analyzed.RESULTS ①Of the 188 cases in OSAHS group,106 were complicated with cardiovascular diseases(56%),including 61 hypertension(32%) and 45 coronary heart disease(24%).Of the 77 in simple snorers group,12 cases were complicated with cardiovascular disease(16%),including 7 hypertension(9%) and 5 coronary heart disease(6%).②The morning average systolic pressure and diastolic blood pressure(SBP and DBP) were higher in OSAHS group than those in simple snoring group and normal control group(P0.05).③Prevalence rate of arrhythmias was significantly higher in OSAHS group than that in simple snoring group and normal control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION OSAHS is significantly correlated with cardiovascular diseases and the aggravation of OSAHS will have significant effect on the blood pressure and arrhythmia of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
