Abstract
Objective To analyze characteristics of injury death in Gansu province from 1990 to 1999 and to supply fundamental data for injury research. Methods Mortality, standard mortality, YPLL, WYPLL, VYPLL were used to analyze influence of injury death on people quality. Results Mortality and standardized mortality were 58.22 per 100 000 and 54.29 per 100 000 respectively, which in rural were higher than that in urban and which in male were higher than that in female (except suicide). Injury became No.1 killer that caused the early death. YPLL and standardized YPLL were 17.58‰, 16.26‰ respectively. Standardized WYPLL and VYPLL were 15.13‰ and 7.54‰ respectively. The first three reasons leading to death were suicide, traffic accident and accidental fall. Occurrence of suicide, traffic accident and accidental poisoning increased in past ten years. On contrary, incidence of drowning and accidental fall decreased. Conclusions Injury is a serious public health problem that affects people's health and laborer's quality.
