Expression of Survivin and Its Clinical Significance in Human Gastric Cancer Tissues

Objective To investigate the role of survivin in apoptosis of gastric adenocarcinoma, as well as its correlation with the clinicopathologic features and the prognosis. Methods Immunohis- tochemistry was used to analyze the expression of survivin in 48 patients with gastric cancer speciment and 26 speciment of normal gastric tissues. Results Survivin was found expressed in 43 (89.6%) of human primary gastric cancer tissues in our study. The positivity rate of survivin in different gastric carcinoma were 66.7%,80.0% and 100%. No surviving was observed in the normal tissue. Conclu- sion There is an overexpression of survivin in human primary gastric cancer tissues. The expression of surviving associates with the pathologic features. It suggests that suvivin play an important role in the engender and developments of the human gastric cancer.
