Abstract
Based on principle of similarity ,the water is used to simulate the flow of molten steel to study the flow field in the tundish. Appropriate partition wall and the size of tundish hole are found to improve and optimize the flow field. The data RTD collected by computer and photographs origined from the experiments with Chinese ink as its tracer are used to compare to get the optimizal scheme. The experiment shows, the average residence time in the modified tundish increases by 50 s to 90 s、dead volume decreases from 25%~30% to 14%~19%,and Plug-like volume increases from 8%~13% to 26%~27%, then the flow field in the tundish is optimized.
