Abstract
Objective To observe clinical effect and safety of Carvedilol in the treatment of chronic congestive heart failure. Methods 75 cases of chronic congestive heart failure were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group(n=38) and control group(n=37).All patients were treated with ACEI,diuretics, digoxin and nitrate, the treatment group was additionally given carvedilol, from small doses of 2.5 mg gradually increased to the maximum tolerated dose for the maintenance of the amount for treatment of 6 months. After 6 months, cardiac function, left ventricular diastolic volume, ejection fraction was observed. Results After treatment of 6 months, all patients cardiac function changed significantly(P0.05);Compared with the control group,LVEDD decreased(P0.01) and LVEF(%) increased(P0.01)in the treatment group. The difference had statistical significance. Conclusion Carvedilol was both α1 and β adrenergic receptor blocker,low-dose therapy significantly increased cardiac function in patients with chronic heart failure,it was safe and reliable.
