Breeding and Utilization of Aromatic Indica CMS Line Mianxiang 1A with Good Grain Quality in Rice

Mianxiang 1A,derived from the testcross between You ⅠA and(Feigai B/Xianggai B) F2 and its successive backcrosses,was a new aromatic indica CMS line developed by the Mianyang Agricultural Research Institute,Sichuan,China.It showed stable and complete male sterility,good agronomic characters and good grain quality.In August,2004,it was technically identified in Sichuan Province.Its F1 hybrid combinations showed high yield and good grain quality.Among them,Mianxiang 576(Mianxiang 1A /Fuhui 576) was registered by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2005,and Guohaoguoxiang 8(Mianxiang 1A /Mianhui 725) was registered by the Anhui Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2008.
