Abstract
Mianxiang 5A,a new aromatic indica CMS line,is derived from the testcross between Gang 46A and [Mian 5B/(Xianggai B/Digu B∥D161B) ]F2 by the successive backcross method and developed by Mianyang Agricultural Research Institute. It showed stable and complete male sterility, good agronomic characters, flowering habits and combining ability, and relatively fine grain quality. In August,2008,it was technically identified in Sichuan Province, and its hybrid Guohao Guoxiang 12(Mianxiang 5A/Mianhui 9937) was registered and released to commercial production by Chongqing Municipal Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2006.
