Effect of chinese herb Platycodon grandiflorum on isoniazid concentration in plasma of mice

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the interaction between traditional chinese herb Platycodon grandiflorum and isoniazid in mice.METHODS The single use of isoniazid group was taken as the control group;isoniazid combined with Platycodon grandiflorum group was used as experimental group.After administration of INH alone and in combination with Platycodon grandiflorum,the blood concentration of INH was determined with HPLC.RESULTS 1.5 h after i.g.administration of drugs,the drug concentration of the control and experimental groups reached the peak values,and the INH concentration of experimental group was higher(44.5±0.85)% than that of the control group(n=5,P0.05).CONCLUSION The plasma concentration of isoniazid significantly increased when isoniazid used together with Platycodon grandiflorum.
