Application of Ultrasound-guided Mammotome as a Minimally Invasive System for Benign Breast Lesions Treatment

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the applied value of ultrasound-guided mammotome as a minimal invasive system in treatment of benign breast lesions.Methods:Treatment of thirty-seven breast lesions in 22 patients were performed by ultrasound-guided mammotome minimally invasive biopsy system between March 2010 to October 2010.The real-time ultrasound monitored the whole process of lesions resection,all resectioned tissue was sent for pathological testing.Results:The 36 of 37 breast lesions were excised completely by the mammotome system,and all operations were visualized by ultrasound.Thirty-two lesions were confirmed by pathology as fibro-adenoma and four cases as cystic hyperplasia.The complications include one case of thoracic pericardiocentesis,one case of skin injury,and three cases of haematomas.Conclusions:The ultrasound-guided mammotome system can be used to treat breast benign lesions for its convenience,safety,its minimally invasiveness,its real-time display,its high success rate,and no scarring,It has great application value to the treatment of benign breast lesions.
