On Metaphor Competence and Vocabulary Depth Acquisition

Metaphor is a very common phenomenon.Vocabularies in different languages contain different metaphor conceptions.Therefore,training students' metaphor competence is a feasible way to conduct vocabulary teaching.By explaining the definitions of metaphor competence and vocabulary depth knowledge,and by illustrating the necessity of training students' metaphor competence in vocabulary teaching,this essay further puts forward several feasible measures to cultivate students' metaphor competence in order to improve their vocabulary depth acquisition.
