Abstract
Image,the soul of poetry,expresses poets' feelings and ideas by symbolic and fantastic representatives,thereby it holds a highly important role in poetry and is a typical characteristic of art.Image is rooted in common life and culture.From the point of differences between Chinese and Western notions of images,the present paper assorts and analyses the images in Chinese and Western poems,aiming to identify the different ways and causes of images formation in terms of different cultural roots.
