Abstract
Akuwuwu, a Yi scholar-type poet, created numerous novel and unique images of sophisticated appeal with artistic method of western modernism on the basis of combining the profound national cultural deposits with the concept borrowed from the western poetics of imagism. The manner of his creation embodies his peculiar experience and sincere national sentiment in the use of rational thinking about the modern cultural spirit and also reflects his deep concern about the return of national civilization and the proliferation of culture. For study purposes,there are three ways in this article that discuss modern images in Akuwuwu's Chinese poetry. They are ways of symbolic images, stream-of-consciounes images and deformation images.
