Image: Cultural Projection in Chinese and Western Poems

Culture must seek to reveal itself fully by way of literature, for cultural projection can be found in any literature and artistic forms. There is no exception with poetry. As the important aesthetic element, image, on one hand, is limited by culture and bears cultural projection; on the other hand it reflects culture. From the three perspectives of truth, the stability of meaning and whether artistic conception can be formed, this paper makes a comparison between images in Chinese and western poetry and attempts to look back to culture through literature and consider the cultural differences between the west and China by comparing the different characteristics of images in western and Chinese poems.
