Abstract
Ancient Chinese poetry and modern Chinese poetry all value the application of images,with the latter usually expressing poets’ emotion by classical images.The application of classical follows the aesthetic principals of ancient Chinese poetry in modern Chinese poetry,but it is different form images in ancient Chinese poetry in terms of connotation,function and usage.The classical images in modern Chinese poetry pays no attention fixed connotation of images but their relationship each other;they don’t pursue to express by image but concrete feeling;and they don’t clarify obscurity by Xing Xiang but limit by words.
