Abstract
Isopropyl acetate was synthesized with acetic acid and isopropyl alcohol as the starting materials and sodium bisulfate as the catalyst. The effects of reaction time, the ratio of acid to alcohol, the amount of catalyst and the amount of water-carrying agent on the esterification rate were investigated, and the optimal condition for esterification reaction were established. As a result, the optimal condition for the esterification reaction is determined as a reaction time of 60 min,an acid to alcohol ratio of 1∶0.8,a catalyst dosage of 0.8g,and a water-carrying agent amount of 8mL.Under the optimal condition, isopropyl acetate can be obtained at an esterification rate of up to 84.3%.
