Abstract
In this paper, the acrylate emulsions were systhesized by dropwise manner of monomers using the emulsifier allyloxy nonylphenol propyl polyoxyethylene (10) ether sulfate (DNS-86), and then their properties were compared with the emulsions prepared with conventional emulsifier sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The effects of emulsifier DNS-86 on the solid content, conversion of monomers, stability, size and morphology of emulsion particles and Zeta potential were investigated. The reason of affecting the stability of emulsion for polymerizable emulsifier DNS-86 was explored. The results showed that compared with the conventional emulsifier SDS, the emulsion stability is improved when the emulsifier DNS-86 is used.
