Abstract
The acrylate emulsion was synthesized by semi-continuous polymerization process using a nonionic polymerizable emulsifier allyloxy nonylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy)(10) ether(ANPEO10).The influence of emulsifier amount on the properties of emulsions was discussed. The results indicated that the latexes prepared by the polymerizable emulsifier ANPEO10 had smaller activation energy, larger particle size and wider range ability of viscosity than those prepared by the conventional emulsifier octylphenolpolyoxyethylene(10) ether(OP-10).The water-resistance and solvent-resistance of the films of acrylate emulsions were improved by using the polymerizable emulsifier ANPEO10.
