A control study of fluvoxamine and paroxetine in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder

Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy and side effects of fluvoxamineine and paroxetine in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD).Methods 72 patients with OCD were randomly assigned into fluvoxamineine group and paroxetinegroup.The efficacy was measured with Yale-Brown and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD).The side effects were deter-mined by the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS).Results There was no significant difference in the efficacy between two groups.The side effects of fluvoxamineine were lower than those of paroxetine.Conclusion Fluvoxamineine in the treatment of OCD is effective and safe.
