A Control Study of Fluvoxamine and Paroxetine on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Objective To assess the effects and adverse effects of Fluvoxamine and Paroxetine on OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder).Methods 75 patients meeting the CCMD-3 OCD criteria were treated with Fluvoxamine or Paroxetine and followed for 8 weeks.The efficacy was evaluated by Hamilton rating scale for Yale-Brown obsessive compuldive scale(Y-BOCS),Hamilton rating scale for anxiety(HAMA) and Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAMD),safety was evaluated by treatment emergant symptom scale(TESS).Results The efficacy rates of the Fluvoxamine Group and Paroxetine groupwere 76.32%,and 70.27%rispectively.but side effects of Fluvoxamine were less(P 0.05).Conclusion Both Fluvoxamine and Clomipramine were effectively in treating OCD,but Fluvoxoxamine was with less adverse effects.Conclusion Fluvoxamine is a safe,reliable effect in the treatment of OCD.
