Comparative analysis of risperidone combining with paroxetine in treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of risperidone combining with paroxetine in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). Method:40 patients with OCD were randomly treated with risperidone combining with paroxetine(n=20) and paroxetine only(n=20).The efficacy was measured with Yale-Brown obsessive compulsive scale (Y-BOCS),Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) and Hamilton depression scale (HAMD). Results:There were significant differences between two groups in overall response showed by the reduction rate of Y-BOCS,HAMA and HAMD total scores. Conclusion:It is suggested that risperidone combining with paroxetine have a superior effectiveness in the treatment of OCD.
