Abstract

To investigat the effect of Losartan potassium on blood pressure, blood lipid, blood uric acid and kidney function of 30 elderly hypertensive patients. selfcontrol design was adopted, these patients ended previous drugs for lowering blood pressure, Losartan was given at the dosage of (25—50) mg/d, changes in blood pressure in 24 h,urinary protein in 24 h,serum levels of uric acid, lipid, potassium, urea nitrogen, creatinine and blood fasting glucose were evaluated after treatment for 4 weeks. The blood pressure dropped from (23.45±0.2/16.77±4.19) to (13.1±1.19/12.43±0.03)kPa,urinary protein in 24 h, endogenous creatinine clearance test, serum levels of uric acid were decreased significantly, serum levels of lipid, potassium, urea nitrogen, creatinine and blood glucose were not changed significantly by losartan treatment. losartan has a good effect on elderly hypertensive patients, increases clearance of uric acid, decreased serum levels of uric acid, doesn’t have bad effect on kidney function.
