Abstract
The May 4 Movement period was a period of important change in modern society and in ideology and culture, and a period in which the women's emancipation movement progressed in a breadth and depth never before known in China. During this period, people's exploration of the women issue involved many aspects, including birth control. Some enlightened personages came forth with valuable propositions in respect of the significance of birth control to women's emancipation, social progress and racial improvement,contributing positively to the promotion of the women's emancipation movement and the social changes.
