Comparative study of clomipramine with risperidone and clomipramine alone in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder

Objective:To investigate the superior effectiveness of risperidone combining with clomipramine in the tretment of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD).Methods:31 patients with OCD were treated by risperidone combining with clomipramine and 32 patients were treated by clomipramine only for 8 weeks,The efficacy was measured with Yale-Brown obsessive compulsive scale(Y-BOCS),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and Hamilton depression scale(HAMD).Results:After 8 weeks,there were significant differences between two groups in overall response showed by the reduction rate of Y-BOCS total scores ;whereas no snignificant differences in HAMA and HAMD total scores between them.Conclusion:It is suggested that risperidone combining clomipramine have a superior effectivenees in the treatment of OCD.
