Abstract

The polysaccharide from Aloe barbadensis Miller was precipitated with ethanol and further purified by stepwise precipitation or on Sephadex G-100 column. The results showed that crude polysaccharide could be purified on Sephadex G-100 column. Its polysaccharide content was 81.11% detected colorimetrically by the phenol-sulfuric acid method. The polysaccharide was eluted with distilled water and detected by ultraviolet spectrophotography at 200()nm when purified on Sephadex G-100 column. This method was convenient, rapid and sensitive.
