Abstract
Objective To study the composition and structure of the polysaccharide from gel of Aloe Barbadensis Miller. Methods The polysaccharide of Aloe Barbadensis Miller gel was precipitated with ethanol and further purified on Sephadex G-100 column. Gas chromatography, ultrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, periodate oxidation analysis and Smith degradation were used to study the structure of this polysaccharide. Results The polysaccharide(API) was mainly composed of D-mannose units joined by β(1→4) linkage. Conclusion The polysaccharide from gel of Aloe Barbadensis Miller was mainly β(1→4)-D-acemannan.
