Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish a method for determination of polysaccharide from Aloe barbadensis Miller.METHODS The polysaccharide was purified by precipitation with ethanol followed by extrac tion with distilled water. Its total soluble sugar content was detected colorime trically by the anthrone-sulfuric acid method at 610 nm with mannose as sta ndard.RESULTS The soluble sugar contents of gel, skin and whole leave were 0.952, 1.673 , 0.992 mg·g -1, respectively. The average recovery was 99.57%.CONCLUSION This method is simple , rapid and well reproducible,it is suitable for the dete rmination of polysaccharide from Aloe barbadensis Miller.
