Clinical Effect and Mechanism of Butylphthalide Soft Capsules in Treatment of Vascular Dementia

Objective To observe the effect and safety of Butylphthalide Soft Capsules in treatment of vascular dementia(VD),and to research the probable mechanisms.Methods100 mild and moderate VD patients were randomly divided into Butylphthalide group and Nimodipine group.Both groups were treated for 3 months.Efficacy was assessed by MMSE,ADL and CDR scale 1 day before treatment and in the 2nd,4th and 12th weeks after treatment.The improvement of symptom and safety of drug use were evaluated before and after treatment.ResultsThere was significant difference of scale in both groups before and 12 weeks after treatment(P0.05),and there was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05);the total effect rate in Butylphthalide group was 84.9%,while 64.0% in Nimodipine group,There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05),but the incidences of adverse events in the two groups showed no significant difference(P0.05).ConclusionButylphthalide Soft Capsules is more effective in treating mild and moderate VD than Nimodipine,and is safe to clinical application.
