Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of thalidomide on the expression of serum TNF-α in rats with collagen induced arthritis(CIA).MethodsArthritis animal model was induced by collagen.Seventy-six healthy male Wistar rats were divided into three groups, the control group, the model group and the thalidomide treatment group.Compare the relationship between serum TNF-α concentration and the paw thickness of model rats to investigate the possible mechanism of RA and the treatment effect of thalidomide on CIA rats.ResultsThe more serious the arthritis is,the higher concentration of the serum TNF-α.There is a markedly positive correlation between arthritis and TNF-α concentration.Thalidomide can reduce the serum TNF-α concentration and meliorate the arthritis state of rats with CIA.ConclusionThalidomide can meliorate the symptoms of arthritis through reducing the serum TNF-α concentration,it is hopeful to apply thalidomide in the treatment of RA patients.
