COMPARISONS OF VITAPEX AND ROOT CANAL FILLING PASTE IN TREATING CHRONIC APICAL PERIODONTITIS

Abstract

Objective To compare the curative effects of vitapex and root canal filling paste on chronic apical periodontitis.Methods 398 teeth in 360 cases were randomly divided into Group A(204 teeth) treated with vitapex and gutta-percha point filling paste and Group B(194 teeth) treated with the conventional filling paste and gutta-percha point filling paste.The follow-up surveys lasted a year and clinical effects were evaluated.Results In Group A,162 cases recovered and 24 got improved with the total effective rate being 91.18%.In Group B,116 cases recovered and 22 got improved with the total effective rate being 71.13%.There existed significant difference between the two groups(χ2=26.39;P0.05).Conclusion Vitapex can functionbetter than traditional therapy in treating chronic apical periodonitis.
