Evaluation of Vitapex Paste as Root Canal Filling Material in Root Canal Therapy

Objective To explore the clinical effect of treatment of chronic apical periodontitis with vitapex paste.Methods 220 pa-tients with 220 infected teeth were randomly divided into two groups.The treatment group were treated with vitapex paste plus gut-ta-percha.The control group were treated with traditional zinc exide olive oil paste and gutta-percha.Pain reaction was recorded at 24h and on the seventh day after the root canal therapy.Periapical radiograph was taken before and after 1 year.Results The pain reaction rates at 24h and on the seventh day in the treatment group were 20.9% and 4.5%,while the rates were 44.5% and 16.4% in control group.After one year,success rates of two groups were 91.0% and 80.9%.Difference between treatment group and control group was significant(P0.05.) Conclusion It is an effective method to treat chronic apical periodontitis with vitapex paste in root canal therapy.
