The effect of esomeprazole on reflux esophagitis

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of new proton pump inhibitor esomeprazole on reflux esophagitis.Methods 108 patients with reflux esophagitis diagnosed by endoscopy were randomly divided into group A(n=58) and group B(n=50).Group A was treat with esomeprazole.Group B was treated with omeprazole.All patients added mosapride.The effects were evaluated with symptoms and gastroscop.Results After 8 weeks treatment,the total symptom apparent effect rate was 86.2% in group A and 56.0% in group B(P0.05%).The total symptom improvement rate was 96.6% in group A and 73.0% in group B(P0.05).There were significant differences in endoscope amelioration between the two groups.Conclusion Esomepraxole is effective in treatment of reflux esophagitis.
