Comprehensive treatment of early postoperative inflammatory ileus after appendiceal perforation

Objective To study the comprehensive treatment effect on early postoperative inflammatory ileus after appendectomy for appendiceal perforation.Methods All the postoperative patients with early inflammatory ileus were divided into two groups at random.Control group(n=18) was treated with fasting,continuous gastrointestinal decompression,maintenance of liquidelectrolyte and acid-base equilibrium,supplementary human serum albumin,total parenteral nutrition support,proton pump inhibitors,somatostatin,adrenal cortical hormone and broad-spectrum antibiotics.Trial group(n=20) was treated additionally with traditional Chinese medicine enema.Results In the trial group,the outcomes were listed as follow:cure in 17 patients(85%),obvious effect in 2(10%) and ordinary effect in 1(5%).As for the control group,the counterparts were 8(44.44%),3(16.67%) and 4(22.22%),as well as the other 3 patients(16.67%) without any effect,2 of whom were diverted to surgical operation that led to healing.There was a significant difference in total effective rate between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Comprehensive treatment with chinese enema is satisfying for early postoperative inflammatory ileus after appendiceal perforation.
