Clinical observation on 70 patients with viral myocarditis treated by the combination of TCM and western medicine

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of the combination of TCM and western medicine on viral myocarditis. Methods 140 patients with viral myocarditis were randomly divided into two groups. 70 patients in control group were treated by routine western medicine; the other 70 patients in treatment group, in addition to the therapy of control group, were treated by Yangxin decoction,one dose daily, with a treatment course of 15 days for both groups. Results The total effective rate was 98.6% in treatment group and 84.3% in control group, there was a significant difference between two groups (P0.05);the mean cure time was 24.5 days in treatment group and 36 days in control group, there was also a significant difference between two groups (P0.05). Conclusion The combined treatment of Yangxin decoction with routine western medicine is effective in treating viral myocarditis, with safety and little side effect.
