Abstract
Objective:To study significance of p53 proteins and PCNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: Using S P immunohistochemical methods, p53 proteins and PCNA expressions in 94 cases of human esophageal carcinoma were studied. Result: The positive rate of p53 proteins was 65.96%, and the positive rate of PCNA was 85.11%. p53 protein expressions and PCNA expressions were related with the tumor size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, and the patient survival duration. It is not related to degrees of the cancer cell differentition. Conclusions: Examining the expressions of p53 and PCNA may be helpful to predicate the prognosis.
