Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of p27 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in esophageal squamous cell carcinogenesis.Method Immunohistochemical (S-P) method was used to detect the expressions of p27 and PCNA in the processes of normal esophageal mucosa epithelium, dysplasia and invasive carcinoma respectively. Results The expression rate of p27 was the highest in normal esophageal mucosa epithelium and there was a descending tendency with the progression of esophageal mucosa lesions.Meanwhile, the expression of p27 correlated with the grading and metastasis of lymph nodes( P 0.05).The expression rate of PCNA was the lowest in normal esophageal mucosa epithelium ,and have relation with the metastasis of lymph nodes( P 0.05); Compared with the normal esophageal mucosa epithelium, the expressions of p27 and PCNA in dysplasia and invasive carcinoma there was a significant difference( P 0.01).The expresson of p27 has negative correlation with PCNA expression. Conclusion The abnormal expressions of p27 and PCNA played an important role in esophageal mucosa carciongenesis, and they Would be of significance in inflecting the malignant degree, indicating lymph node metastasis, guiding treatment and evaluating tumor prognosis.
