Clinical effects of dinoprostone suppository and oxytocin on labor induction of full-term pregnancy

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effects and safety of dinoprostone suppository and oxytocin on labor induction of full-term pregnancy.Methods A total of 936 cases who would accept labor induction of full-term pregnancy in our hospital from July 2009 to June 2010 were selected.They were randomly and equally divided into two groups.The experimental group was treated with dinoprostone suppository,and the control group was treated with intravenous infusion of low dose oxytocin.Statistical analysis was applied to compare the cervical Bishop score,labor time,birth process,newborn score,postpartum haemorrhage,and side effects in the two groups.Results At different time points after administration,the cervical Bishop score in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.05).Compared with the control group,the labor time and postpartum haemorrhage were significantly reduced,and labor rate was significantly increased in the experimental group(P0.05).There was no significant difference in newborn score between the two groups(P0.05).Side effects appeared in some pregnant women in the experimental group,but disappeared after stopping use of dinoprostone suppository.Conclusion Dinoprostone suppository used in labor induction of full-term pregnancy is superior to intravenous infusion of oxytocin,and it can be safely and effectively used in clinic.
