Abstract

Object Study of application value of indwelling central venous catheter into intrathoracic cavity treated with tuberculous pleural effusion. Methods 60 inpatients with tuberculous pleural effusion were devided into drainage group(30 cases)and thoracentesis group(30 cases). A comparative study was drainage, pleural effusion, the duration of drainage and the degree of pleural thickening in two groups. Results The comparsion was made between drainage group and thoracentesis group. The former one had fewer of thoracentesis, more duration of drainage and more drainage quantity of pleural effusion. And the drainage group presented less drainage of pleural effusion, less complications and obvious decrease in pleural thickening. Conclusion Using indwelling catheter into intrathoracic cavity was superior to operation of thoracentesis in the treatment of tuberculous pleural effusion. It has characteristic of convenience, safety, satisfactory efficacy. So it should be recommended for a wider use.
