Breeding of a New Watermelon Variety——Bianza No.9

Bianza No.9 is a new watermelon variety with mid-maturity and black skin.It is developed by crossing inbred KS165 as female parent and KS28 as male parent.The whole growth period is about 103 days from sowing and the fruit matures about 33 days after flower.The fruit is oblong,the skin is black with wax,the rind is durable with thickness 1.1-1.2 cm.The flesh is red and crisp.The soluble solid content is about 10.0%.The average fruit is 6-8 kg and 667 m2 yield is about 3 500 kg.The plant is resistant to Fusarium wilt.It is suitable for cultivation in Henan,Shandong,Hebei,Anhui and Guangxi province.
