A New Watermelon Cultivar——Jinkang No.4

Jinkang No. 4 is a new early maturing hybrid watermelon developed by crossing inbred line 99-20 as a female parent and Ja-126 as a male parent. The whole growing period is about 97 days and the fruit matures 28 days from flowing. The fruit is globe shaped with dark green skin. The rind is durable with 1.4 cm in thickness. It has good shelf-life and shipping ability. The fresh is bright red and crisp with center soluble solids 11.5%. The average fruit weight is 5 kg and 667 m2 yield is about 3 000 kg. The cultivar is resistant to watermelon Fusarium wilt and anthracnose. It is suitable for early cultivation in Shanxi province and similar ecological areas.
