Breeding of A New Watermelon Hybrid Red & Black

Red Black is a new watermelon variety bred by Hefei Fengle Seed Co. Ltd. It is developed by using inbred line M4r09128 as female parent and inbred line BL21263 as male parent. The whole growing period is about 110 days,fruit development period is about 33 days. The fruit is oblong shaped with black skin. The flesh is red,fine,crisp and sweet. The center soluble solid content is more than 12.2%. The plants are vigorous,set fruit easily. The average fruit weight is 6-8 kg, and 667 m2 yield is about 3 500 kg.
