Abstract
Objective To investigate the exprssion of KiSS-1 and hOT7T175 gene in breast cancer and its clinical significance. Methods The mRNA expression of KiSS-1 and hOT7T175 gene was detected in benign and malignant breast tissues by RT-PCR in 40 patients. Results In 40 cases of breast cancer tissues, the positive rate of KiSS-1 gene and hOT7T175 gene expression was 42.5% and 25% respectively, while in normal tissue the rate was 72.5% and 50% respectively.Loss of KiSS-1 and hOT7T175 gene expression in breast cancer was not correlated with clinical stage, tumor size. The positive KiSS-1 rate was 63.6% in those without lymph node metastasis, but only 16.7% in those with metastasis (P 0.01).Conclusion Loss of KiSS-1 gene expression may be a useful marker for detection of lymph node metastasis in breast cancer.
