Abstract

Wen Yi-duo's research of poetry in Tang Dynasty made a break through his predecessors' limited scope. He combined anecdote-editing, false-discrimination, repetition and collation as well as examination and correction of works in regard to the writer's life stories and travelling. He established a panoramic and comprehensive pattern of research, showing his great daring and wide range of ability to foresee. He reckoned that the study of literary sources dated back to times of the Tang Dynasty has been transformed from traditional study to modern one. His contribution is perpetual. However, due to age, his research had been halted, and it left people uncertain of his talents that had not been fully revealed.
