Abstract
n-Propylacetate was synthesized from n—propyl and acetic acid in the presence of p—toluene sulfonic acid. The factors influencing the synthesis were investigated. The optimum conditions were found. The optimum conditions were as follows:molar ratio of n-propyl to acetic acid is 1.5 1,the mass ratio of the catalyst used to the reactants is 1.2%,the volume of cyclohexane as the water—carrying agent is 8mL,and the reaction time is 2 h. p—Toluene sulfonic acid is an excellent catalyst for synthesizing n—propyl acetate and the product yield can reach over 61.8%.
