Abstract
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of limbal stem cells autograft transplantation for treatment of recurrent pterygium. Methods: Limbal stem cells autograft transplantation was performed on 33 cases (36 eyes) with recurrent pterygium. The post-operative follow-up periods ranged from 6 to 36 months, average 20 months. Results: All of the grafts survived well and no immunological rejection or other complication occurred. Recurrence occurred in 1 eye in the follow-up period,Recurrence rate was 2.78%. Conclusion: Limbal stem cells autograft transplantation could provide new stem cells for injured limbus. It is a surgery method of simple and safe and effective for the treatment of recurrent pterygium.
