Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of limbal stem cell autograft transplantation in the treatment of recurrent pterygium. Methods 32 cases(32 eyes) of recurrent pterygium were treated with limbal stem cell autograft transplantation. Results A follow-up visit taken for a period of 6 months to 2 years showed that no recurrence was found in 31 eyes and all eyes were raised in eyesight and improved in appearance.Only one case out of 32 eyes(3.1%) recurred. Conclusions Limbal stem cell autograft transplantation is a simple and ideal surgical method for treatment of recurrent pterygium.
